main indications and long-term outcomes of reoperation after initial repair of tetralogy of fallot
Authors
abstract
background and objective: the aim of this study was to analyze our indications, surgical procedures, and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing reoperation after surgical correction of tetralogy of fallot (tof). methods: thirty seven consecutive patients who underwent reoperation late after intra-cardiac repair of tof within a period of 10 years were assessed. results: the most common indications for correcting tof was pulmonary valve insufficiency (51.4%) followed by right ventricular outflow tract (rvot) dilatation (45.9%), residual ventricular septal defect (vsd) (43.2%), pulmonary valve stenosis (32.4%) and pulmonary artery stenosis (32.4%). the most common late complication for primary operation included pulmonary insufficiency (5.4%), followed by ventricular tachycardia (5.4%). late complication rate following reoperation was 13.5%. there were three operative deaths with a mortality rate of 8.1%. one-year and three-year survival were 96.2% and 91.8%, respectively. late mortality following reoperation was significantly higher in those with underlying coronary artery anomaly (p= 0.026), those with primary patent ductus arteriosus (pda) (p= 0.026), and those with pulmonary stenosis (p= 0.028) as indications for repeated operation. conclusion: the most common indications of redo surgery following tof repairing surgery are pulmonary valve insufficiency followed by rvot dilatation, and residual vsd. although the redo surgery is associated with serious complications, acceptable long-term survival following this repeated operation is expectable.

Main indications and long-term outcomes of reoperation after initial repair of tetralogy of Fallot
Results: The most co...
full textLong-term survival after repair of tetralogy of Fallot.
BACKGROUND Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is the most common cause of cyanotic congenital heart disease. Long-term survival has improved because of lower operative mortality and surgical repair in infancy or early childhood prior to the development of cardiac compromise from chronic hypoxia. Thus, more people with repaired TOF will survive to adulthood and will be interested in insurance coverage. ...

Background Total correction of Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) anomaly in early childhood has been practiced in many centers with good results, but in some of patients after few years sever Pulmonary valve insufficiency occurred. Materials and Methods At a cross- sectional study from January 2015 to January 2016, 10 patients who had history of primary repair of TOF with free pulmonary insufficiency (...

There are few studies about post-cardiac surgery fungal infections especially by Aspergillus fumigatus. In this paper we report a case of Aspergillus fumigatus endocarditis after tetralogy of Fallot total correction (TFTC), and permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation. A five-year-old female patient with current history of total correction of tetralogy of fallot was admitted in Rajaie Ca...

Methods This paper studies a group of 71 patients operated in Heart Institute between September 1st 2001 and July 1st 2006, all surgically corrected without prior palliations. The surgical techniques were: transannular patch (46), infundibular patch ± PA patch (17), and transatrial and transpulmonary correction (8). The patients were divided into 2 groups, operated below 1 year of age and above...
